I'm looking for a command line tool, my needs are very simple,
To support multiple tab pages, you need to open multiple command lines with multiple tabs and open multiple directories at the same time;
It is best to support minimization and hiding in the tray;
Reopen to restore previously opened folders and command windows
It is best to use free software;
It is best to use open source software, without the backdoor problem of paid software;
After comparing several command line tools, I found that ConEmu is more suitable for me. ConEmu is a very good efficiency tool for opening folders with multiple tabs.
Alacritty has really good performance and fast startup, but it does not support multiple tabs. However, it has great performance and many programmers will like it, but it just doesn’t meet my needs.
After installing Tabby, I encountered problems. It was so slow to start that I had to wait several seconds, the performance was poor, and it took up too much memory. When I exited the software, the process still remained. I also encountered a bug. If I closed the window, it would automatically open it again. Github can find someone who has encountered the same problem. I killed all remaining processes to solve the problem. The advantage of this software is that it is beautiful and has a very modern interface. Except for the startup lag, it does not lag at other times, but it takes up a lot of memory. Moreover, from a technical point of view, a layer of skin is made from Electron, and the underlying cmd command line tool must still be connected. Multiple subroutines and a large amount of memory consumption are difficult for technical developers to accept. The advantage is that it is beautiful and the interaction is very good.
cmder, Zhihu has a poor reputation on the Internet and has many bugs. I have used cmder before, but there were so many minor problems that I gave up. And cmder is developed based on ConEmu, so why don't I use ConEmu.
Microsoft's open source Windows Terminal is probably good. I haven't used it yet. I will talk about it after I use it. However, I currently use ConEmu and there seems to be no motivation to change it.
Because ConEmu really meets all my needs: opening multiple directories in multiple tabs, restarting the recovery window, open source software, free software, and also supports minimization and hiding in the tray.
